MAC Let’s Learn: A Morning Walk to Lost Lake with the Whistler Lakes Conservation Foundation

September 23 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Free

Whistler Lakes Conservation Foundation is pleased to offer the following experience to members of the Mature Action Community for three Mondays in September (when the rush of tourists have left our valley). The WCLF goal is to preserve the pristine lakes of Whistler and promote and proactive conservation and environmental protection on Whistler Lakes. They have established a Volunteer Lake Monitoring Program (“VLMP”) in partnership with BC Lakes Stewardship Society (“BCLSS”).

Join MAC members, Tom and Peggy English as they test Lost Lake for its surface movement of wind, temperature, depth, and dissolved oxygen content as they lower various instruments into the Lake.

This experience involves a one kilometer walk into the “clothing optional” dock on Lost Lake where the testing is performed.

CAUTION: The descent from the trail down to the Lake is quite steep (+-45 degrees) and involves following a trail amongst middle sized boulders. By agreeing to engage in this experience YOU ARE DOING SO AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Bring your own snack and drinks and we can enjoy a chat on the dock while monitoring the water or at a picnic table in the Lost Lake Park after the monitoring is completed.

Mornings of SEPTEMBER  9, 16 and 23, 2024 – meet in the parking lot at Lost Lake at 10:30am

This experience is limited to 4 people per session. Registration is required.

This is a free event for all 55+
