Volunteer Opportunities with MAC
MAC is always looking for volunteers to help with our many programs and advocacy efforts to ensure Whistler seniors can age and live well in Whistler. Volunteering is one way to meet new people or connect with old friends, have fun, and become involved with the Whistler community to help make a difference. Have a special skill or expertise to share? Contact us, we would love to hear from you!
Communications Team
MAC needs volunteers to help communicate to our members via the website, email, and social media. Our website communications include appropriate and interesting news articles and blogs. As part of the Communications team, MAC is seeking a social guru who has experience with social media or would like to learn! This person will manage the MAC Facebook page, Instagram, and have experience using MailChimp and some graphic design experience. Training will be provided if needed.
MAC Newsletter Committee
We are recruiting volunteer members for the Newsletter Committee. If you’re curious and like to write, this is a fun opportunity to produce an engaging, informative newsletter for our members and to assist with our News Blog.
MAC Membership Committee
Do you enjoy connecting with people? We’re looking for MAC members to join the Membership Committee to manage the member data base on a monthly basis, promote the benefits of MAC membership and assist with recruiting new members, answer general inquiries, and explore options for special benefits and discounts for MAC members.
Social Committee
MAC's Social Committee is always looking for volunteers who want to have some fun helping out at an event or organizing an event from the ground up. You will always have support from other committee members, and we certainly are looking for new ideas all the time. Bring them and come join us! Check out the Activity Calendar to see our events.
Grant Writing
As a non-profit, and to keep membership fees low, MAC depends on grants to help us with some of our major programs such as Making Connections, the Website makeover, the MAC Talks programs, Coffee and Conversation and Let’s Learn. MAC is looking for someone with grant writing experience (or a willingness to learn) to apply for the many grants available to MAC to allow us to provide programs for Whistler seniors to ensure we can all age in place successfully.
Advocacy for a Seniors Meeting Place
MAC members have spoken, a Seniors’ Center is a priority! Council heard us loud at clear at a recent council meeting. We need an accessible, safe and consistent community space for programs and events, a place we can call home where seniors can engage with each other. If you are interested in working together to bring awareness of the needs of the seniors living in our community and lobby for a place we can call our own, we would welcome your ideas and energy to support this cause.
If you are interested in any of these volunteer opportunities with MAC, please contact us at info@whistlermac.org.
Volunteers are truly the heartbeat of a non-profit organization like MAC. By volunteering your skills, compassion, commitment, and time, you can make a substantial difference within our community, by helping all seniors to age and live well in a place they love.
