MAC Directors

Seniors provide a wealth of experience and historic knowledge to our community, and typically provide a high degree of volunteerism. A brief look at MAC's Board of Directors indicates the diversity of skills that are typical of our seniors in Whistler.

Sue Lawther, B.H.E.
Retired development consultant and certified Six Sigma Black Belt. Together with husband Les, past owner/operator of Whistler Exclusive Properties, Haven Property Management and Dunhill Real Estate Research. Current Whistler Village Host and member of the MAC Focus Group.

Bob Calladine,  BA
Professional ski instructor; mountain guide and ski video photographer(Austria); 18th and 19th Century house restorer (England). Board member: Whistler Youth Soccer Club (past); Blackcomb Ski Club (past); Whistler Scouts;(past) Whistler Adaptive Sports Program (past); Rotary Club of Whistler Committee member;  Royal Leamington Spa Conservation Society; Whistler 2020;  Whistler Parks and Recreational. Joan Richoz
After completing her Masters at UBC in 1973, Joan Richoz moved to Whistler in 1974 with her husband Marcel and raised her two children here. She became involved in the first Children’s Art Festival in 1983 and from then on, worked as a volunteer and coordinator for many of the WAC’s foundational programs and events. She is currently Past Chair of the Board. After starting the Whistler Public Library in 1986, she retired after 20 years of service. Joan has served on the boards of Whistler Arts Council, Maurice Young Millennium Place, ArtsBC, Association of BC Public Library Directors, the Sea to Sky Radio Society and ArtsBC. In April 2010, Joan’s volunteer work was recognized with a BC Community Achievement Award and in 2011 she was honoured as Whistler Citizen of the Year. In 2012 she was awarded the Freedom of the Municipality for her work furthering arts and culture in Whistler. In June 2014 Joan was honoured with the inaugural Whistler Champion of Arts and Culture for her work at the library and with the Whistler Arts Council.

Dawn Minett, B.SC, CGA
Retired accountant now living in Whistler full time after 30 years of spending part of her time here. Whistler Blackcomb Mountain Host, Village Host, and volunteer extraordinaire.

Joan Pitman
Joan was in the airline industry for 25 years and remains in the travel industry to this day, as a consultant and Tour Director.  She has served on various boards, Shooting Stars Foundation, Arts Club Theatre, past president, WAG and Whistler Arts Council. Joan continues to work with various Whistler organizations including the Film Festival and Zero Ceiling Foundation. A weekender since the mid 70’s and now a full time resident since 2000.
